The statue is placed at more than 15 meters deep and was laid on the seabed in 1954, by the diver Duilio Marcante, to commemorate his friend Dario Gonzatti, who died during a dive a few years earlier.

The sculpture is 2.5 meters high and weighs 260 kg. Composed by the merger of medals of sailors and athletes, bells, cannons, naval elements and even propellers of submarines Americans donated by the U.S. Navy.

The Christ of the Abyss has become a destination for scuba diving.
You can also be seen, in the southern part, walls covered with coral and sponges, while, not far from the beach, about 18 meters deep, there are the remains of the Croesus, a British steamship used during the Crimean War.
